Welcome to Godrevy Class.

Welcome back everyone! I hope you've all had a fabulous Easter and are ready for the busy summer term we have ahead of us!

I'm extremely excited about our new topic this term, which will be  'The Ancient Egyptians'. In this topic we will be learning all about how the Egyptians used to live, including their gruesome method of mummification. This topic will also be woven through our geography this term, where we will be learning all about rivers, specifically the River Nile- The world longest river!

If you have any  resources connected with our topic that you would like us to share in class, please send it in via the office. Please see our medium term planning below for more information about our topic.

Our DT project, which will take place during the second half of the summer term, will also be linked to the Ancient Egyptians.

In Art this half term we will be researching local artist 'Terry Frost'. This research will then lead to our own piece of artwork inspired by Terry Frost.

In Science we will be moving on to learn about living things (including humans). This is an excellent unit which I think you will all enjoy!

In RE, we will be looking at the creation story from the bible and linking this to how we can look after our planet.

More details of what we are learning this term are covered in our medium term plan, below.

If you have any questions,  please catch Miss Delbridge at the end of the day or pop a note in your child's reading record.

Please keep your eye on our class page and school facebook page for updates and photos showing what we have been up to!

 Weekly events in Godrevy:

Our scheduled hall slot for PE is a Friday afternoon, however our sport this term is athletics, meaning we will be outside whenever it's nice, so please ensure PE kits are in school all term.

Homework will be initially be based on the current theme, 'The Ancient Egyptians'. Attached to this page is the Chilli Challenge sheet based on the topic. Please encourage your children to take part in this creative homework. The children's  work will be displayed on our celebration wall in lower key stage 2. Please ensure your child does a minimum of 10 points on the homework grid.

Daily reading and times tables practice on TT Rockstars, hit the button or Mathsframe are still very important and the children’s reading records will be checked regularly to make sure that they are reading regularly. In year four it is the childrens' own responsibility to change their reading books. There is a selection of pre-selected, age-appropriate books in our class library and the children are also welcome to bring in books from home to read. If any children are struggling to choose a new reading book that suits them I am more than happy to recommend books.

I can't wait to see you all soon,

Miss Delbridge!

READING IS SO IMPORTANT IN KS2!
Please see the links below for more information.
In June, Y4 children will be taking their online times table check. This will be discussed at parents' evening. Please make times tables a priority at home this term. Y4 pupils should know their tables up to 12x12.

Please continue to read nightly.
