Welcome to Godrevy Class.

Welcome back everyone! After such a warm welcome before the summer holidays I am looking forward to having a fantastic year with you all. We have got a busy term coming up, with lots planned so I hope you're ready to get learning!

For the first half of  Autumn term, we will be learning about our topic 'The Aztecs'.

If you have any  resources connected with our topic that you would like us to share in class, please send it in via the office. Please see our medium term planning below for more information about our topic.

In Science, we will be learning about 'Sound' for Autumn term. This is a great unit that gives us the opportunity to do lots of investigating and thinking scientifically.

In Art, we will be focusing on the Aztec period and will be creating a final piece of work inspired by this nomadic tribe.

In RE, our focus for world religion will be Judaism and we will continue to learn more about their beliefs, rituals and celebrations.

More details of what we are learning this term are covered in our medium term plan, below.

If you have any questions,  please catch Miss Delbridge at the end of the day or pop a note in your child's reading record.

Please keep your eye on our class page for updates and photos showing what we have been up to!

 Weekly events in Godrevy:
Our scheduled hall slot for PE is a Wednesday afternoon, however as we will try to get outside as much as we can while the weather lasts please ensure PE kits are in school all half term. PE this term will focus around tennis, and the children will be specifically working on serving the ball, working up to playing a full game of tennis.

Homework will be initially be based on the current theme, 'The Aztecs'. Attached to this page is the Chilli Challenge sheet based on the topic. Please encourage your children to take part in this creative homework. The children will receive certificates for their contribution and their work will be displayed on our celebration wall in lower key stage 2. Please ensure your child does a minimum of 10 points on the homework grid.

Daily reading and times tables practice on TT Rockstars, hit the button or Mathsframe are still very important and the children’s reading records will be checked daily to make sure that they are reading regularly.

Please see the links below for more information.
In June, Y4 children will be taking their online times table check. This will be discussed at parents' evening. Please make times tables a priority at home this term. Y4 pupils should know their tables up to 12x12.
Please continue to read nightly.

Throughout this term we will be writing our own adventure narrative. This narrative will be based around 'The Great Chocoplot'. The book is an adventure narrative about the end of chocolate forever!! This book also links to our Aztec topic this term as Aztecs were huge lovers of chocolate!
