School Council

Our school council meets to discuss important issues in our academy. All years from Nursery-6 are represented, with the children looking for ways to improve our academy even further and provide a voice for all pupils.

Children also represent St Uny at the national 'Younger Leadership Forum' in collaboration with the Diocese.

Please take a look at the minutes from our School Council meetings.

30.9.24

Mr. Smith met with the newly elected school council members, where the children voted to appoint a new chair, secretary, and treasurer. During the meeting, the council chose Surfers Against Sewage as the charity they would support through fundraising efforts this year. They brainstormed various ideas for raising funds, including non-uniform days, wearing a favorite sportsperson's kit, cake sales, and school discos. Additionally, the group expressed interest in persuading Mr. Hoskins to allow students to wear their PE kits on PE days and to create a new space on the 'Splat'.

29.11.24

The School Council met to talk about fundraising ideas for 'Surfers Against Sewage' - the committee would like to run the London Mini Marathon again to raise money for this.

31.3.25

The School Council continued to plan the Mini Marathon and have agreed a £200 target. The children also talked about sustainability, particularly the impact the school has on the environment. Mr Smith shared 'monitor' badges with the children - the first focus is switching off lights when rooms are not in use.

6.6.25

The School Council were delighted when they found out their 'Mini Marathon' event raised £230! The children also shared ideas to further support the school's sustainability plan:
  • Weekly litter picking competition which leads to weekly winners and then a cup at the end of the year.
  • More planters with wild flowers and bee friendly plants around the school - this will also make it look more inviting.
  • Sharing more information about turning off lights around school.
  • Beach / local park cleans are both something the councillors would like to do more of.
