Hello lovely children in Zennor!

Thank you so much for Easter cards, flowers and treats - it made us feel very special. Please make sure that you have a restful Easter holiday with plenty of outdoor activity and chocolate!

When we will return we will be studying the Ancient Greeks, writing instruction texts and planning a Zennor class Olympics. Art will be based around the Greeks, science will be on living things (animals and plants), and we will be fitting in music and French too. Maths will focus on key skills and filling in any gaps left by lockdown.......if you want to do any extra practice at home please focus on the 3x, 4x and 8x times tables.

Please make sure this term that you all have a full PE kit in school at all times - whenever the weather is good enough and we have time we'll be practising our skills outside for the Olympics.

Much love

Miss Hill

Homework -
At St Uny Church of England Academy, we believe homework is anything children do outside of the normal school day that contributes to their learning, in response to guidance from the school. Homework encompasses a whole variety of activities instigated by teachers and parents/carers to support the children's learning. Our 'Chilli Challenge' homework sheet is feature in the downloads below.

Building Learning Power

Each half term we focus on a different learning power - next half term our learning power will be noticing.

Zennor Spelling lists
The spelling lists with test dates are shown below. Spelling tests will happen every Friday. Please help your child to learn their spellings each week by thinking about the meaning of the words, looking for patterns in the words and by using the look, copy, cover technique. If you are not sure which Zennor spellings your child needs to do please let us know - we will send home a copy with each child before the term starts, but extra copies are always on hand in school or here on the Zennor page.
As Zennor have been learning about Hinduism we spent a day celebrating Diwali. We made chocolate fudge, Diva lamps, retold the story of Rama and Sita in our own storybooks, and investigated Rangoli patterns in art. It was great fun to be creative and learn about the traditions of another world faith.
Stuck for what to read? Try some of these recommended reads for Y3. Remember that our local library is a great place to try out books before you buy - and they will order books in for you to try too.
If you would like more information about why reading at home is so important please follow the link below or read the attached DFE study.
Please see the document below that gives you ideas of how to help your child when they read with you at home - it contains useful sentence stems that will help you when you ask questions.
