St Uny C of E Academy

Eco Committee

Our Eco Committee meets to discuss important issues in our academy and the local area. Pupils from Year 2 - Year 6 are represented, with the children looking for ways to help the local environment and reduce the school's carbon footprint.

Meeting 1 - 17.10.25

The Eco Committe met and have set out their first actions for the year:

  • Litter picking in the local park.
  • Litter picking at Carbis Bay Beach.
  • Sourcing more bins for the school's outdoor areas.
  • A 'no litter' poster competition.
  • Light monitors in each class.

Meeting 2 - 12.11.25

The Eco Committee planned and carried out a litter pick at the local park - they were amazing and collect over one bin bag full of rubbish. The team will meet again soon to plan their next project.

Meeting 3 - 04.02.26

The Eco Committee met to review the success of their poster competition before Christmas. The three winning designs have been displayed around school and the competition winners loved their prizes. The focus for today's meeting was very much about litter and the committee feel there has been a rise in litter around school in the winter months.

The Eco Committee would like four bins for the playground areas and to lead an assembly about looking after the school grounds. The group would also like to carry out another community litter pick. Ideas included: the beach, the local estate, the local park, the school grounds. The group will decide next week where their next community litter pick will be.Â
